Wesely-Thomas Enterprises

Feeling relaxed? Comfortable?

Image that you were called by your administrator, who said “I think that we just lost our e-mail server.” All of your employees would have just lost communications with the cell phone e-mail, all of your in-house staff cannot get e-mails that normally count in the hundreds each day, and your best clients e-mails to you bounce back to them undelivered. Further, your IT support staff announces that the problem is a rootkit malware that got into your e-mail server even though you have an anti-virus system, and they cannot predict how long it will take them to recover from the outage. How are you feeling now?

In your corner...

Wesely-Thomas Enterprises had this happen to them not too long ago. As a commercial general contractor with some of the largest clients in Los Angeles, they were vulnerable to significant losses if the above happened… and it did.

They contracted DWP Information Architects Inc. to survey the damage and figure out how to keep it from happening again. After surveying the network and its vulnerabilities, DWP made several changes:

  • Implemented an off-site mail service that would filter all incoming SPAM, viruses, rootkits, and other malware before it entered their network.
  • Set-up a “store-and-forward” function to the inbound e-mail server so that none of their incoming mail would be returned or lost if a power outage or system failure disrupted local e-mail service.
  • Used “smart host” off-site to send e-mails through from their server, in order to scrub all outbound mail, to give the client e-mail servers a “trusted site” that they were receiving e-mail from, and to provide service continuity in event of problems
  • Utilized the NetCare Backup and Data Recovery® service from DWP to provide an immediate recovery of lost data from a network image taken as recently as 15 minutes ago. It also provides 24/7 NetCare Help Desk support if someone needs to recover data from the system.
  • It stores a network image off-site at two separate locations, on the East Coast and the West Coast, to guarantee data recovery. Also it stores data as binary data that cannot be read by anyone at the data center, and as such, meets HIPPA and SOX data integrity requirements.
  • The NetCare BDR service includes an on-site server-based component; it can “virtualize” a lost server and provide the needed hardware/software backup for the time you need to replace it.

WTE has had power outages, system failures, employee mistakes and untold attempts at network infection since the installation of the DWP services, without business disruption. Add that this service was very affordable for a small business. That’s business continuity services from DWP Information Architects.
